Sometimes I scare myself, being blonde and all! I thought my cousin, Roberta, was flying in yesterday. When I called Texas her husband said she was getting ready to fly on Friday! I sure had that one mixed up! It gave me one more day to do a little more tucking in of the edges so to speak! I am really excited for her to come.
The only thing, I will possibly be dragging her back to Billings as our dog has to have her back leg operated on. She got stepped on by a bull and we rushed her to the vet in Roundup and the x-ray showed no broken bones. A month later we think it looks funny, so took her to the vet in Miles City and sure enough...broken bone chips. It is too serious for him to fix and he recommended a vet in Billings. He said if we didn't do something, it was never going to heal. Therefore Monday is a consultation and more x-rays and surgery on Tuesday. That is all I know at this point.
She is my walking partner and Bill's helper dog working cattle. We want her to be able to "do" once again.
Off to help Bill move machinery...
Musings from the Big Dry Creek of Montana, of my cowboy, ranching in general, growing grandchildren, and the fun of touching fabulous fabrics.

Kittens, playful kittens!!
The new kitty, as yet unnamed has been here three days and already wants to run things. She is pretty little and so soft. She is now wanting to play. We have her in a large dog kennel with a kitty bed and food in the garage, AND we turn her loose after Amy and the other cat, Tiggy, are outside. It is quite something when we take the car out of the garage so we can catch the kitten...
She still remains unnamed, but since she looks to be part Siamese, it should be something elegant, right?!
Did I mention that she sleeps in the cat kennel in the house at night. She doesn't even squeak! Oh, did I mention I am allergic to cats...
I wash my hands a lot.
WE are so lonesome around here without Bert!! It is not even "happy/lonesome" as my Mom would say.

Dutton 2009 Family Reunion
Some candid shots of "kissin' cousins"--Rebecca and Mary
They kept gathering cousins and then decided to add the one remaining uncle and aunt, Uncle Bruce and Aunt Hazel. Uncle Bruce is the cowboy hat on the left in the back row and Aunt Hazel is the one in the lavender top. They are so loved!! That they even had the energy to make the trip and sit outside in the heat attests to their love of family!! Those that didn't make the picture, I am sorry. We kept taking more pictures as more cousins came, but after it was over I saw more arriving at the park.
We early birds got up to walk. Cari forgot her walking shoes so cut our walk a little short. Roberta and Connie went on without us. It was a beautiful early morning walk!
Bill, (my Cowboy!) and I have to get a picture taken together, especially on a park bench!! Cari took one of us dusting off the bench!! I did not include that one! It was a gorgeous day, a little warm, but there was lots of shade and a little breeze.
Angus went running and said: "Cowboy PopPop, combine broke!" Bill asked him what was broken and he replied: "The bulldozer!" We had a great laugh and Cowboy PopPop told maybe Poppop Vern could fix it. Notice the "boy" haircut! He is all boy!!
(I have loaded, cut and pasted this picture three times!! It is time I quit blogging for the night! I sometimes feel I am "challenged" as far as computing goes!)
Jennifer and Kamryn
Such a sweet smile! Sometimes Mom's hugs are just the BEST!
What impresses me about this family is their dedication to having a reunion every two years (odd years! Hummm...) and those that make it do, and the others will try for another year. I met Bill's cousin Ed and Kathy, who stopped in on their way with Aunt Hazel and we had a very good "get acquainted" visit. Connie stopped in also and we caught up. Speed and Rose stopped by which makes it all the better for more gabbing!

One and Only Grandson's Third Birthday!
Here is Dad and our birthday boy! Things might not be going just right at the moment!
Cowboy PopPop and Poppop Vern waiting for the kids to get their plates full.
There is Dad, Auntie Jen, and Cowboy PopPop! What a birthday celebration!
Great Grandpa Vaughn is enjoying his hot dog.
There is nothing quite like cousins! These two are such good buddies!!
More cousins--even younger! Did I say we have nine grandgirls and only ONE grandboy! We do girls really well! Liv is our cute cut-up!
I am told that Angus likes watermelon almost as much as cake! There is just something about summer time, watermelon and kids...
Grandma Naomi stopping for a cute picture!
Great Grandma sampling the homemade ice cream as Mommy and Grammy are dishing up for everyone. Yum! Yum! Nothing like homemade ice cream, even if it is a little runny!
There seems to be a little trouble getting the combine out of the new fangled boxes with wires and dohickies. Many hands make light work!! Angus is patiently waiting for that combine.
It was such a fun get together and cousins just love an excuse to get together, there was mud, rocks, sidewalk chalk, and TOYS! The Dad put rocks around our house to help the water run away and the next day I found piles of the rocks on the rocks, no windows broken, so what the heck, they can be scattered around another time. I didn't get a picture taken of the door as there are many "kid prints" on the glass and I like to leave them for a few days to remind me of our sweet little ones! It makes me smile. And I notice they are getting higher and higher on the door!
Too much cake, way too much ice cream...Weight Watchers here I come.

This is my patriotic cowboy! He thinks it is a privilege to carry our flag in the 4th of July parade in Jordan and I and his family are so proud of him. This is Ace's second year in the parade and he is very showy. The cowboy has served his country in the Army and we pray for and thank God for our service people every day.
